Fire Stations
The need for adequate fire protection in Clinton Township was first recognized in the early 1940’s. On May 2, 1945, the Township took delivery of its first truck and constructed a cinder-block garage behind the Township’s original office at 1129 South Gratiot to house the truck.
During the 1960’s, a comprehensive plan was developed for fire protection in Clinton Township through five fire stations. With Station 1 already existing, the Township moved ahead with the construction of Station 2 at 21250 Fifteen Mile Road and Station 3 at 16720 Clinton River Road to serve the areas that were experiencing growth at that time.
In the 1980’s, the next step in the five-station plan materialized as the growth pattern up the northwestern corridor created the need for establishment of Station 4 at 42601 Romeo Plank.
The northeast portion of the Township has experienced a
tremendous growth in residential, commercial and industrial developments.
Preparation for the final step in the five-station plan began to materialize
when the Township purchased the property for Station 5 in 1989. On Elizabeth
Road and Dunham, this property was specifically chosen as the sight best suited
for delivery of fire services to the northern and northeast portions of the
Township. It is hopeful that response times to these areas of the community can
be addressed by development of this station in the near future.
Station #1
Station 1, constructed in 1945, is located between northbound and southbound Gratiot at Harrington, and serves the central, eastern and northern portions of our community.

Station 2 is located on Fifteen Mile, just west of Gratiot. Opened in 1968, this station serves the southeast portion of our Township.

Identical in design to Station 2, Station 3, located on Clinton River Road at Garfield, was opened in 1969 and serves the west and southwest portions of our Township. It also houses the department’s Fire Training Division.
Station #4
Station 4 opened at Romeo Plank and Greenfield Roads in 1988. It presently serves the northwestern and northern portions of the community. Shortly after opening, the Fire Administration and the Fire Communications Center were moved into this building. When the Fire Prevention Division was established in 1989, it was also located at this station.
