Water-Powered Backup Sump Pumps

Water-powered backup sump pumps use municipal water pressure to pump out the sump well. When the water-powered sump pump is submerged, it creates a cross connection that can contaminate the public water supply if the flow of water is reversed during low pressure events.

In order to protect the public water supply, a reduced pressure principle backflow preventer (also known as an RPZ), which meets American Society of Sanitary Engineering standard 1013 is required ahead of the water-powered sump.
